This apprenticeship provides a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours, which can be gained working across an organisation and its processes. The apprenticeship is a firm grounding in organisational operations and functional processes, as well as the wider working environment. The business administrator is also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, decision-making and the potential for people management responsibilities through mentoring or coaching others. Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. In doing so, the apprentice is expected to work independently and take responsibility for the outcomes of their work, with support of the employer and the training provider. Through working across functional areas, apprentices build team relationships quickly and learn from others to develop specific skill sets.

The End-Point Assessment (EPA) is synoptic and takes place at the end of the apprentice’s learning and development, after 18 months on programme learning.
The employer and York College will formally sign-off that the apprentice has met the minimum requirements in regard to knowledge, skills and behaviours within the standard and confirm they are ready to move on to the end assessment. This will happen during a meeting involving the apprentice, their line manager and the trainer assessor.
There are three components that make up EPA for the Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard which are:
For each of the three assessment methods needs to be passed and the apprentice receives a grade Fail, Pass or Distinction to be determined by the weighting of each component of the EPA.
This apprenticeship standard is at Level 3. Ideally candidates be working in a job role that supports the achievement requirements of the apprenticeship. Candidates will also have achieved Maths and English at level 2 before the End-Point Assessment can be taken.
