College Coaches
We run 10 subsidised college coach routes, see the complete list of bus routes, timetables and costs below.
Pick up point for the return journey leaving at 4:40pm is the bus lane at the front of the building.
The North Yorkshire Pass bus will drop off and pick up on Tadcaster Road. In the interest of health and safety all coaches are fitted with lap belts; these must be worn.
Please note that the Code of Conduct which applies to students on College premises also applies to students accessing the College coaches.
New route from September 2012
We have a new route 3a service picking up in Newton Upon Derwent, Sutton Upon Derwent and Elvington, please see the complete list of bus routes, timetables and costs above.

Additional Bus Services
First York buses coming to York College/Askham Bar start from Rougier Street and the Railway Station:
White Line (Park and Ride) 3
Pink Line 12
Brown Line 13
Transdev services 20a and 26 both stop at Askham Bar (opposite York College).
Coastliner services via York stop at York College.

Bus Tickets and Passes
Students can purchase tickets for all the College buses from the Finance desk in the InfoZone.
Full-time students who use the First buses (including Park and Ride) can purchase discounted weekly passes from the Finance desk.

Under 19 and full-time
If you are studying for a Further Education course, you may be eligible for free or discounted travel, depending on your circumstances. Check out what your Local Authority offers below. Application forms are available from the InfoZone or directly from your Local Authority.
East Riding of Yorkshire County Council
Offers: A discretionary contribution to your travel costs, if no help from other sources and only in very exceptional circumstances, students should apply to the College in the first instance.
Costs: You pay the remainder
If: You live more than three miles from the institution and it is the nearest institution offering course.

Leeds City Council
Offers: £210 towards travel outside West Yorkshire, £70 reimbursed at the end of each term (2010/11 figures).
Costs: You pay the remainder
If: you live more than three miles from the institution, it is the nearest institution offering the course, and it is within reasonable daily travel distance.

If: You live more than three miles from the institution, it is the nearest institution offering course (or a suitable alternative), and your parent(s) get Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance (income based) or the household income is less than £16,190 and your parents/carers do not receive working tax credit.

Offers: A range of discounted travel passes cards to give unlimited use of the First bus services in York from a week to a full academic year.
Costs: From £12.50 per week to £350 for the academic year.

Offers: 33 per cent reduction on most fares (restrictions apply)

On the Train
If you are travelling to York College on the train, you can now buy your train and bus tickets together using Plusbus.
If you have a 16-25 Railcard, you can get 1/3 off your bus tickets with Plusbus.

Parking
Parking is by Pay and Display ticket cost 50p per day. There are ticket machines on both levels of the car park. The college has limited parking space and courteous, safe driving is expected at all times. Vehicles causing an obstruction will be clamped and a fee charged for their release. This car park can get full early in the morning. Please do not park in local residential avenues such as Chessingham Gardens. Staff and students may obtain an annual permit from the estates office on the first floor. Students are not eligible for a car parking pass until they have held a full licence for at least nine months.
