Each
month the college
recognises a student
who has done something
exceptional; Antony
Johnson has been
chosen as Student
of the Month for
October.
Antony was nominated
by Paul Holdsworth
for his voluntary
work carried out
at Open Events and
in particular his
work at the Race
course event at the
beginning of the
month. In addition
his group was asked
to help on a fundraising
event for the Young
Apprentices to raise
money for their Italy
trip. They needed
help in the kitchen
and Antony was the
only student to put
himself forward.
The event was on
a Friday evening
in Ashfields and
Antony chose not
to work, he cancelled
his shift to help
out at college.
Paul
Holdworth said: “Antony
was not even helping
his own college group,
he loves cooking
so much he just did
it. That evening
he supervised the
young apprentices
and ran the kitchen
with the tutor (who
was full of praise
for his help and
efforts). His very
positive and willing
attitude deserve
recognition.”
Principal, Alison
Birkinshaw presented
Antony with a £25.00
Borders voucher.
