Each
month the college
recognises a student
who has done something
exceptional; Melissa
Crowland has been
chosen as Student
of the Month for
May.
Mel was nominated
for this award by
Jane Cole and Steph
Simpson (Learning
Support ECOs) as
well as Janet Ward
and Vicky Harrington
(English tutors).
They say: "We
have supported and
worked with Mel in
her A Level classes
over the last two
years and we are
so impressed at how
she manages to cope
so amazingly with
a tough subject work
load despite her
severe visual impairment.
Mel has a tremendous
work ethic, she manages
to get her work in
on time and access
all the materials
she needs to read
in differing formats
to everyone else.
This is all very
time consuming yet
she never moans nor
uses it as an excuse
- she just gets on
with it and works
really hard. Mel
retains a really
positive outlook
on life, she is looking
forward to going
to York University
and is an absolute
delight to work with."
