Payment of Fees and Benefit Information
Are you under 19 on the 31st August?
The majority of students aged under 19 are eligible for free courses and will not have to pay for the remainder of the programme should they become nineteen at any point during the course. However certain courses, particularly those with Full Cost and Higher Education status, are not included so please check before enrolling.
Are you 19 or over on the 31st August?
The majority of students aged over 19 will have fees to pay. Exceptions to this rule are:
Those who are unemployed, in receipt of a state benefit and undertaking a course which will provide skills training or remove a barrier to employment. Please note proof of benefit will be required. Students who are eligible for fee remission under Level 2/3 rules. (Please see * below)

If the course you want to enrol onto has a course fee and you are in the over nineteen group you must do one of the following to reserve your place (**)
Pay your course fees in full
Pay your deposit and set up a Direct Debit
Provide proof of sponsorship (For example a letter from employer)
Provide proof of benefit
Meet the criteria for Level 2/3 entitlement (*)
Payment Options
Your fees can be paid using cash, cheque and credit or debit card.
In person at the College Finance Desk. Opening Times are 08:30 - 17:00 Monday to Friday

By post. Send your cheque, payable to York College, to:

Please write your name, telephone number, student reference and course name on the back of the cheque.
Instalments
You may be eligible to pay in instalments by Direct Debit. A deposit is due to be paid at enrolment, with three further instalments payable as follows:
- Full-time - December, February and April.
- Part-time - October, November and December.
- Confirmation of your Direct Debit plan, detailing dates and amounts, will be sent to you when your Direct Debit is successfully processed.
- Part-time course fees costing over £500 can be paid as per full-time courses. Please identify this when setting up your Direct Debit.
Late enrollers are required to pay all instalments that are due when they enrol. Courses that do not start in September are adjusted accordingly.
Additional Costs
If your course is one that requires you to pay for a kit or student contribution you will have been notified at interview. These should be paid at enrolment or during the first week of term.
Exceptions
Please note that not all courses qualify for fee remission and/or Level 2/3 entitlement for example Full Cost courses. Students who are under sixteen are generally not eligible for free courses. * Level 2/3 Entitlement. Students who may be eligible for free courses are as follows: those aged under 24 on the first day of the course who studying their first full Level 2 qualification, or an Entry Level or Level 1 course in order to progress to their first Level 2, those studying their first full Level 3 qualification and who are aged under 25 on the first day of the course.
** Failure to pay your course fee or satisfy fee remission criteria will delay your enrolment and could jeopardise your place on the course. Opting to pay in instalments commits you to paying for the full course even in the event of you being unable to continue. If you are experiencing difficulties paying your fees you must contact the Finance Department straight away and we will make every effort to help you.
