Sports Therapy Clinic

Depending on the needs of the client, sports massage incorporates a variety of techniques including: kneading, soft tissue release, joint mobilisations, stretching
and heat therapy.

Benefits of Sports Massage

Sports massage has many benefits. In addition to FEELING GOOD, sports massage reduces the heart rate and blood pressure, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, reduces muscle tension, improves flexibility and relieves pain. Sports Massage can also include pre-event, post-event and maintenance techniques that maximises function and decreases the chances of injury.

What to expect

Your first session will consist of a consultation that will last for one hour and will be conducted by a competent sports therapy student. A qualified physiotherapist will then diagnose the problem and will work with the student to plan an appropriate treatment. Follow up sessions will last for 30 minutes.

What to wear

Wearing appropriate clothing will allow the therapist to effectively assess the affected area i.e. wearing a vest for upper limb assessment and shorts for a lower
limb assessment.

After Treatment

Once you have completed your treatment(s), it is advisable to drink plenty of water and to follow any advice given to you by your therapist.

If for any reason you feel unwell before your appointment, please notify your therapist immediately to discuss the best course of action. This can be done by calling 01904 770254.
