At York College we know
how important it is to
make the right choices
after Year 11.
Our sixth form courses
are divided into two
areas.
AS/A Levels
When studying
AS/A Levels students
are encouraged to choose
four subjects, with the
possibility of studying
up to six. We have the
largest choice in the
region and the greatest
range of possible subject
combinations. For an
overview of the subjects
on offer and to see
the support tailored
to our A Level students,
including support for
university progression,

Vocational courses
These
courses are available
at three levels to
suit the student’s
ability and their career
aspirations. They include
one year and two year
full-time courses,
as well as Apprenticeships,
and tend to be more
practical with ongoing
assessment and coursework.
Progression for students
from Level 3 courses
includes going on to
university as well
as going directly into
the workplace. Many
students completing
Level 1 and Level 2
courses are successful
in progressing to the
next level or they
may prefer to enter
employment with the
skills they have learnt.
