Partnerships with Parents
Parents/ carers are the main educators of their child and they have important information that supports our planning, we encourage a partnership to identify issues that may have an impact on your child's well being.
Parents are encouraged to share their views and ideas through:
- regular conversation with Nursery staff
- coming to Nursery User Group meetings each term. (See Notice board for details).
- discussing your childs Record of Achievement with his/her keyworker
- contributing to your child's Record of Achievement
- supporting planned activities (e.g. sponsored treasure hunts, Christmas Carol service, themed dressing up days).
You could help your child's development by giving him/her the opportunity to tell you what he/she has been doing each day e.g. which toys they have played with, what kind of activities they have done, which places they have visited, what food they have eaten, how they made each picture or model.
Each child has a peg in the entrance corridor where drawings and paintings are placed when they are ready to go home. Please collect your child's work on a weekly basis.
Nursery Newsletters are usually produced bi-monthly. They contain important information about the Nursery. Please read them!
Activities at home sheets are available monthly to keep you up to date with which areas of learning we are focusing on, which songs and rhymes we are singing and to inform you of any nursery visits or visitors.
Nursery User Meetings
We have a Parents user group. Meetings are held each term, please see our notice board for details. Meetings give you an opportunity to have a say in 'your nursery' and keep up to date with current issues.
Parents Evening
Held once a year with a visiting speaker, time is also available for you to talk to your key workers and meet other parents. Parents are always welcome to join us on trips.
Heuristic Play
Heuristic play is a way in which we can feed a child's natural urge to explore and investigate the interesting things that they see around them, by providing natural and everyday objects that don't look like their normal toys.
We are collecting some items for our Heuristic play baskets and would appreciate any items you would like to donate. The sort of things we are looking for are:
Wooden spoons, Shells and pebbles, Cotton reels, Wooden dolly pegs, Ribbons and lace, Keys, Bangles and beads, Hair curlers, Pan scrubs, Natural Sponges, Jar lids, Brushes, Wrapping paper, Pom-poms, Large feathers, Pumice stone, Loofah, Egg whisk, Tea strainer, Bells, Leather purse, Powder puff, Golf ball, Tennis ball and anything else you may have that is safe and has an interesting texture for children to explore.
