Welcome
to York College
Childcare
Services
It
is our aim
to offer quality
provision of
care and education.
that is exciting,
motivating
and challenging.
We believe
parents/carers
are the main
educators of
their child
and that by
working in
partnership
with you we
can encourage
each child
to develop
and progress
during this
time of great
potential.
Lifelong
Learning
Starts Here!
We
promote the
holistic development
of the child
by encouraging
them to develop
their skills,
knowledge and
understanding.
We recognise
that play underpins
learning for
young children
and practioners
use a child
centred approach
to provide
and support
a variety of
appropriate
learning opportunities,
which meet
the diverse
needs of babies
and young children.
Our
planning is
based upon
the observations
of children,
which allows
us to respond
to children's
actions and
events and
sustain a successful
learning environment.
York
College provides
a wide range
of childcare
services:
Nursery
- Full Day
Care Provision
for children
aged 6 weeks
to 5 years.
Explorers
The Baby Room
provides care
for babies
up to the age
of two years,
babies are
competent learners
from birth,
and practioners
spend time
observing the
children to
plan a curriculum
that is both
interesting
and challenging.
The
room has been
designed to
provide an
environment
that encourages
heuristic play,
sensory development
and investigation.
The children
have freedom
to explore
and make choices,
routines flow
with the needs
of the child.
Close
emotional attachments
underpin all
later learning
and Key Workers
build upon
the social
and cultural
context in
which a child
lives.
Investigators
This
room caters
for children
from 2-3 years,
practioners
observe the
children as
they self choose
activities
and experiences,
the provision
is then enhanced
to support
the children's,
personal interests
and to build
upon what they
can already
do and understand.
Opportunities
are provided
for hands on
exploration,
repetition
of tasks and
investigation.
Physical activity
is encouraged
, it is an
important part
of child development
and in the
long term aids
concentration
and attention.
Buccaneers
The
Pre-School
room is well
organised and
resourced,
encouraging
the children
to become independent
and self reliant,
practioners
work alongside
the children
to support
their development
and learning
. Observations
form the basis
of assessments,
which are then
fed into planning.
The curriculum
is flexible
as all children
learn at different
rates and in
different ways,
time is allowed
for them to
explore at
their own pace
and return
to activities.
Teaching helps
the children
make connections
with their
own learning
and they are
actively led
on to the next
step, there
is a routine
and rhythm
to the day,
which helps
the children
gain confidence.
Our
planning is
based upon
the observations
of children. |
