York College Day Nursery has been chosen as one of twenty settings across York to implement the ECAT programme. This is a national strategy that aims to raise children's achievement in early language, raise practitioner's skills and knowledge and increase parental involvement in children's language development.
At York College Day Nursery we have created a developmentally appropriate, supportive and stimulating environment in which children can enjoy experimenting with and learning language. Through everyday fun and interesting activities which reflect children's interests, we encourage early language development right from the outset, extending children's vocabulary and helping them build sentences so that before they start school, children are confident and skilled communicators.
However we are always looking for ways to improve our practice and welcome the chance to be part of the ECAT programme.
