Who
can use the Music Development
Centre?
The Music Development Centre is only open to students wishing to follow either an A Level or Vocational Qualification in Music. It is particularly suitable for talented musicians aged between
16 and 19 years. All students will be asked to audition for the Development Centre. This specialist education with high quality music tuition is for students wishing to pursue a career in music or aiming to progress on to a music related university degree/conservatoire.
How does the education
and music mix work?
Every student attending the Development Centre is required to undertake a full-time programme of A Level or Vocational study as well as receiving specialist advanced music study, expert tuition in their chosen instrument, music theory grade tuition and live performance practice with one of our ensemble groups. This is organised to fit with regular tuition and rehearsals. Students can study across the full range of courses offered at the College or opt
for more specific pathways. Attendance and satisfactory progress on the educational programme is monitored regularly and all the Development Centre members are expected to work equally hard on this aspect as well as their Development Centre activities.
