Students: Come and get involved by joining a society or attending an event!
On this page you will find information regarding activities and events held by the College to help promote equality and diversity and encourage a dynamic College environment.
Enrichment and Student Experience
Joining a club or society is an important part of your College experience; it is a great way to make friends, develop your talents and share your opinions.
York College has a wide range of enrichment programmes available to enhance your experience with us as a student here. Alongside subject-specific clubs, we also support student-led groups such as the LGBT society, the Feminist Society, and the student newspaper CYMBAL. We also have a range of politically motivated groups such as the Socialist Society.
We aim to encourage an inclusive community where there is an Xtra-Curricular activity that appeals to everyone. Please follow this link to go to the Enrichment pages for further information.
Equality and Diversity Events
National event days and weeks take place across the College to raise awareness alongside events that are created and run by student-led groups.
The Cross College Events group works together to maximise the benefits of all activities which celebrate or recognise the promotion of equality or diversity. These include:
- Black History Month
- LGBT Month
- Inter-Faith Week
- Anti-Bullying Week
- Chinese New Year
- International Women's Day
- Holocaust Day
Events are advertised around the College via the plasma screens, tutor groups, newsletters and the College intranet.
The Cross College Events group has representation from those managers who are key contributors to Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, and the welfare remits of the College.
