York College has welcomed a group of 50 students and three teachers from Lycée Jeanne d’Arc in Rouen, in north-western France, as part of a week- long visit to the north of England.
The French students spent time in lessons at York College, learning alongside their English counterparts and getting to know English students whilst exchanging teaching methods. They enjoyed finding out about life in an English College, speaking English and also conversing in French with York College students studying AS and A Level French.
During their stay, the French students visited historic York, they loved wandering around York’s famous landmarks and particularly enjoyed a trip to York’s Chocolate Story! They are also visiting Cambridge and will have a go at punting before returning to France.
Prior to their visit, the students exchanged messages with York College students and looking ahead, it is hoped York College will establish a long-term link with Lycée Jeanne d’Arc to organise a reciprocal visit to Normandy in 2020.
