A Range of Qualifications
Choosing the right course for you depends on a variety of things, including your future plans. We offer a range of qualifications:
Access courses
For adults with few or no formal qualifications to help them get back into education and move on to higher level studies.
Degree Programmes
Usually a full-time course lasting three years. There may be opportunities to study on a part-time basis. You will then be eligible for postgraduate study.
Foundation Degrees
Foundation Degrees are formal university qualifications which combine academic study with hands-on work experience. The degrees are designed in partnership with employers working closely with staff at York College to make sure that the qualifications are relevant to the workplace. With further study you can progress from a Foundation Degree to an Honours Degree or on to professional qualifications.
Foundation Year/Studies Generally a one-year course studied to equip you with the knowledge and skills to progress to a degree programme.
HNC Programmes
Two year part-time courses similar level to an HND but with a fewer modules to complete.
HND Programmes
Two year full-time courses. After successfully completing your HND you could progress to degree level studies.
Professional qualifications
Courses and qualifications specific to a field of work. Recognised by professional bodies.
Top-up-Degrees
Designed to top-up an HND to degree level. Either one year (full-time) or two-and-a-half years (part-time).
