Since June 2009,
York College has
been delivering
Work Focussed Training
for those who have
been unemployed
for six months
or more. The programme
features the following
areas:
- Health and
Social Care
- Customer Service
- IT
Entry requirements
There
are no formal entry
requirements for
this programme,
however you must
show a commitment
to study on the
chosen course
and be actively
seeking work
in that area.
You will need
the study skills
to progress on
the programme
which will be
discussed at
your induction
session.
For
entry onto the
IT course you must have a
basic knowledge
of using a computer.
For
entry onto the
Health and Social
Care course you
must be suited
to a career in
this industry.
Requirements
for each individual
course will be
discussed at the
induction.
How to apply
Visit
your local Jobcentre
Plus office and
ask them to refer
you to York College
Work Focussed
Programme, requesting
which course
you are interested
in. The Jobcentre
Plus advisors
will contact
us and arrange
an induction
date at which
you will enrol
onto your chosen
course.
Induction
Group
inductions normally
last three hours
and you will be
able to find out
more about your
chosen course.
Your eligibility
will be checked
and you will have
an opportunity
to ask questions
before commencing
the course.
After
Training
It is expected
that you will be
job searching alongside
your training.
If successful in
finding work in
a related field
our team will be
happy to explore
how you can build
on your work focussed
training to further
develop your skills
by completing and
NVQ programme.
