TAQA Unit 3: Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (Level 3)
Duration and Attendance
Students will undertake Level 3 Award in Undertaking the Principles and Practice of Assessment by attending a one day course on Friday, April 12th 2013 at 1pm - 4.30pm.
Students will then spend a minimum of 16 hours assessing their candidates on four occasions in a context other than a work environment such as a simulated environment, workshop or classroom. A final three-hour session is attended to cover professional discussion and portfolio building.
Entry Requirements
1. The Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment.
2. The student must be able to assess at least two learners in a simulated environment, workshop or classroom.
Programme content
The Level 3 award Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment requires completion of unit one. This is a theoretical unit and includes the principles and requirements of assessment including different types of assessment method, how to plan, make decisions and give feedback on assessments and contribute to quality assurance. In addition, an understanding of legislation and good practice in relation to assessment will be covered.
Candidate assessors also have to assess two learners in a simulated environment, workshop or classroom against standards/criteria approved by their organisation, using at least three methods of assessment.

Assessment Methods
Students will complete an assignment for unit one, undergo observation, submit products of work and, for unit three, undertake a professional discussion.
Additional Home Study Required
For unit one reading and online is required with additional preparation work to complete Unit 2.
Where the programme leads
Depending on the assessors' experience, Level 3 Certificate in Assessing vocational Achievement or Level 4 Aware in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.

Level 3 award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement.
