What will I study?
The programme is intended for learners from countries where the school leaving qualification does not meet the normal entry requirements for a Bachelor degree at UK universities. It therefore includes academic study related to particular subject areas (see ‘Where the programme leads'), study skills appropriate for degree courses and English language tuition.
Qualifications
Learners gain an International Foundation Certificate accredited by the University of York and an IELTS test report.
Where the programme leads
Learners who successfully complete the course and achieve the grades required by their chosen university may be able to enter one of the following degree courses:
Biochemistry Biology Business Studies Chemistry Economics Educational Studies Electronics and Computer Science Health Sciences Law Mathematics Management Politics Sociology Physics Psychology Social Policy
How will I be assessed?
Work is assessed throughout the course by a combination of essays, assignments, practical laboratory work (Science) and written examinations.
What qualification will I receive at the end of the course?
Students who successfully complete the course will receive an International Foundation Certificate accredited by the University of York.
All students will be prepared for an IELTS English language assessment, widely recognised by UK universities for language entry requirements.
What will it cost?
The tuition fee for the 2013/14 academic year is £9000.
Where will I live?
Most students prefer to stay with a homestay family when they first come to England, as this gives them the opportunity to learn more about the British way of life and to practise their English. Students will have their own room, breakfast and dinner during the week (lunch available at college) and full board at weekends. Homestay family accommodation is available all year round, including holidays if required.
Alternatively, our Accommodation Advisor will assist you to make other arrangements to suit your needs and budget.
