Timings for the day

Arrival – please arrive at the main College reception at 9.00am, where you will be greeted and guided to collect your information and timetable for the day.

Finish – the day will finish at approximately 3.00pm.

What does the day involve?

All students are strongly encouraged to attend, as this day is to support your transition to College. During the day you will:

  • Meet College tutors and get to know other students who are going to study the same subjects as you
  • Attend an introductory session for each of your chosen A Levels, at which you will receive some summer activities to help you prepare for the start of each course
  • Find out what to expect in September and how to be a successful A Level student

What if I want to change the subjects I have applied for?

If you would like to change one or more of the A Level subjects that you have applied for then you will be able to do this at enrolment at the start of September. In order to try your revised subjects on the New Student Day, all you have to do is come to the Information Point in the Help Zone (first floor opposite the Learning Centre) once you have picked up your timetable and we will do our best to swap your subject sessions.

What do I need to bring?

Pen and paper to make notes during your sessions.

Some money to buy lunch if you need to, or additional snacks or drinks. Water bottles are the only drinks allowed in classrooms.

If you have applied to do Dance, please bring suitable clothing.

Lunch

Our dining facilities will be open for you to buy lunch if required, or you can make your own arrangements. The cost of a meal deal lunch at the College is from £2.50 and includes a choice of hot and cold food options. If you would prefer to bring your own lunch you can eat this in the College social areas.

What if I can’t make it?

We do not have any alternative dates for this event, however if you cannot attend this does not affect your offer of a place at College. A summer activity may be set for each subject to help students prepare for the start of term. The work will be available here (link not active until 4th of July).

Transport and College Coaches

The College coaches will be running on New Student Day and available for students who are attending the event to use to travel to and from College on the day. There is no cost for New Student Day students to use the coaches. Please show the coach driver your invitation letter/email as proof that you are attending College that day.
