York College Coaches from September 2018

There are a number of changes to the college coach system and how to access it from September 2018. If you are a college coach user or want to see what's new see the information below.

PP last Day of Term 6th July 2018

 A number of local bus services also stop at or near York College. 

Reliance Student Express from Thirsk (with Northallerton link) - this is a commercial service and fares need to be purchased from the driver, this is not a York College funded service so York College tickets cannot be used.

Reliance 19M from Manor Academy - this is a commercial service and fares need to be purchased from the driver, this is not a York College funded service so York College tickets cannot be used.

Departure Times

Departure times are approximate so please arrive at the pick-up point at least 5 to 10 minutes before the advertised time as travel conditions can vary. Morning pick-up times are designed to enable coaches to normally arrive at York College prior to the start of timetabled lessons.

York College provides information on journey times in good faith, however, in the event of a breakdown, traffic congestion or any other incidents beyond the reasonable control of the college or coach companies operating the routes, departure times may be affected and journeys may take longer than predicted; in these circumstances the college will not be liable for any delays.

Coaches leave from the bus lane at the front of the college, following the reverse of the morning route.

Evening Departure times from college bus lane:

16:40pm - Routes 2, 4, 5, 7

16:45pm - Routes 3, 6, 8, 11

16:50pm - Routes 1, 9, 10, 12, 13

Coaches may arrive at different times according to traffic conditions – look out for the route number in the window.

Special arrangements may apply during exam periods.

 Buying Tickets

Coach tickets are required for those travelling on the college subsidised transport.   Tickets must be handed to the driver when boarding the coach - our drivers do not accept cash. A ticket is required for each one-way journey, meaning payment is only made for the journeys you use.

Tickets must be purchased in advance of travelling, these are available from either the York College Ticket Kiosk (located outside the Alan Ayckbourn Theatre in the Atrium, during College hours) or the Finance Desk (located in the InfoZone, open 08.30 - 17.00). Advance purchases of 20 tickets or more can be made using credit or debit card by calling 01904 770495. Your tickets will be ready for collection at the Finance Desk on production of a valid York College Student ID Card. Please note: coach tickets are non-refundable.

 Health and Safety

All vehicles are fitted with lap belts, which must be worn at all times. The student code of conduct applies and inappropriate behaviour will be dealt with under college disciplinary procedures; any students with concerns are encouraged to report details to their tutor or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
