Adult Learning at York College
Our 2012 Adult Learning courses are now in progress. We are currently planning several courses which will commence in April 2013. Further details will be published here in due course.
York College has over 2,000 students over 19 years of age who are studying a wide range of programmes from the Access to Higher Education Diplomas to short courses in art, teacher training, business and even health and safety. We even have adults on apprenticeship programmes and provide bespoke training for employers as well.
The College's learning facilities are among the finest in the region. Its facilities include workshops, art studios, a spa centre and other services which other providers of adult education in the region will find hard to equal. Being a York College student gives you access to our library and the opportunity to get a student card which will allow discounts from a wide range of outlets.
We have great pass rates and achievements. In 2011 81 per cent of our Access to HE students achieved their Diploma compared with 65 per cent nationally while 81 per cent of all our adult students achieved the qualification they were aiming for compared with 75 per cent nationally, and achievement on all courses was in the top 10 per cent of Colleges.
In addition, we have an outstanding track record of working with adult learners. In fact one of our students was awarded the ‘Adult Student of the Year’ award during Adult Learner’s Week in 2011.
